Plans for affordable homes approved for Halsnead Garden Village

Nuvu Development Limited (part of Your Housing Group) has secured outline planning permission to construct new homes as part of the Halsnead Garden Village development.

Knowsley Council has granted permission for the developer to construct up to 377 new dwellings, all of which will be made available as affordable housing.

This includes up to 100 apartments to be used for retirement living (over 55s).

As a condition of the planning permission, the developer has committed to Section 106 contributions of £3,046,353 to support the wider Halsnead Garden Village development.

This includes contributions towards:

  • Primary school, nursery and childcare places
  • Play area and community facilities
  • Healthcare and dental facilities
  • Management and maintenance of green space
  • Outdoor sports provision
  • Social value provision (such as local employment)
  • Provision of bus stops within the site

Once complete Halsnead Garden Village will be the largest combined housing and employment development in the Liverpool City Region, delivering approximately 1,600 new, quality homes and at least 22.5 hectares of employment land.

Halsnead Garden Village will also provide 33 hectares of new greenspaces and a new, 28-hectare, Country Park.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “Halsnead Garden Village will deliver high quality new homes and infrastructure. A significant number of these homes will be made available as affordable housing, ensuring there will be a wide range of options available for everyone. The homes will be surrounded by well maintained and accessible green space and the access to employment and services will ensure a high quality of life for residents.”
