First completed streets take shape at Halsnead Garden Village

Another milestone has been reached at Halsnead Garden Village, with the first streets within the development now complete.

In March last year the first show homes launched at Halsnead Garden Village, with Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council and Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, cutting the ribbon at the new Bloor Homes’ Elowen development along with one of the first homeowners.

One year on and over 50 homes have now been completed and occupied at Bloor’s development in the west of the Garden Village.

Four streets have been completed at the Bloor development, which are now home to the first Halsnead Garden Village residents.

The homes and streets highlight the unique and distinctive character of Halsnead Garden Village which, once complete, will include approximately 1,600 new high-quality homes.

The development, which will be home to 33 hectares of new green space and a new 28 hectare country park, was awarded prestigious garden village status by the Government in 2017.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “Halsnead Garden Village is a truly unique development and that is reflected in the quality of the first completed streets. They look absolutely stunning and I’m really looking forward to seeing the wider development unfold. The first homes have proven really popular and I’m sure the new residents will be delighted to call Halsnead Garden Village home.”

House builders developing within the Garden Village are required to adhere to robust design principles that reflect the history and character of the setting.

These principles will be reflected in the design of the homes, streets, public realm, and green and blue infrastructure, which together contribute to the requisite identity and quality standards of Halsnead Garden Village.

New Halsnead Garden Village resident Will McCoy moved in to one of the new homes earlier this year with his young family. Will said: “We’re absolutely delighted with our new home and the look and feel of the surroundings. After looking around at other developments we’re so glad we heard about Halsnead Garden Village because the access to green space is exactly what we’re looking for as a young family. I’m also on the move a lot with my job so the location of the development is a real advantage for me with the transport connections close by.”

Bloor Homes are constructing over 300 homes as part of the wider Halsnead Garden Village development, up to 25% of which will be available as affordable housing.

James Clark, Managing Director of Bloor Homes, said: “It has been highly rewarding to see the great efforts and detail spent in the design stages of Halsnead Garden Village come to fruition. It is even more rewarding that they have proved so popular with the local community. Thanks to an excellent working relationship with Knowsley Council, we have thoroughly enjoyed creating an outstanding, high quality residential development with them, which has such good access to green spaces and transport connectivity alike. It’s easy to see why Elowen is fast being established as one of the top performing developments in our portfolio.”
