The great outdoors
on your doorstep.

Creating green space that is accessible to everyone.

Halsnead Garden Village

Our Green Sanctuary

Creating a green haven within our Garden Village is extremely important to us. We wanted to create a space within Halsnead Garden Village that would benefit new and existing residents.

Halsnead Garden Village

Protection and Restoration

Ancient and mature woodlands within the development will be protected and enhanced, while existing watercourses will be cleared, managed and maintained.

Wetland planting, alongside restored wildflower meadows and the planting of over 1,400 trees across the Halsnead Garden Village development, will improve bio-diversity, providing new habitats for birds and other species. Halsnead Garden Village will become a haven for wildlife, with the protection of grasslands and meadowlands.

Bringing the community together is at the heart of the development. With the creation of 75km of cycleways, 2km of pathways and a new seating area at Long Lake, we want to create a space where everyone can enjoy the great outdoors. Whether you’re an avid cyclist, a runner or someone who simply appreciates the beauty of the great outdoors, there’s something for everyone.

In the south of Halsnead Garden Village will be the new 28-hectare country park, which will be managed by The Land Trust. The sculptured landscape will include multi-user routes and a crossing over the newly created wetland area.

The
community
facilities

As part of the Halsnead Garden Village development, Knowsley Council are investing £1m to improve the existing local community facilities. The investment will provide new changing facilities, improved playing pitches and a new sports pavilion for the Club on Windy Arbor Road.

A new car park and entranceway has now been completed as part of the investment works. The new car park provides marked bays to accommodate 40 vehicles, including three disabled bays and the provision for minibus parking. Alongside this, four new cycle stands have been installed to encourage active travel. To ensure design consistency, the new boundary wall and entrance to the site are finished with high quality materials which keep with the traditional design principles that will be seen throughout the Garden Village.
Knowsley Council have delivered significant improvements to Mellors Pond to enhance its appearance and improve the water quality and biodiversity of the site. The enhancements will improve the site’s climate change resilience through better drainage and increased biodiversity through habitat management and creation.

The works on Mellors Pond are complete and has included levelling and landscaping works, the creation of new areas of wetland habitat and tree planting, water quality improvements and new fully accessible fishing pegs. The site is finished off by a new boundary fencing that is in-keeping with the Halsnead Garden Village traditional design principles. A new community noticeboard has been installed which will include updates from both Knowsley Council and Mellors Angling Association.
